Swiss company Enuu is leading the micro-mobility wave in Switzerland. They were founded in 2017 and launched their first vehicle in Biel in 2018. They create small cars that users share through their app, similar to the e-scooters that you see around major cities. This is the first time that we report on such a business model reaching this level of success, and do not know of other companies that that have been able to disrupt the micro-mobility market in this way.
The Enuu cars are electric and follow the M-category regulations, which means that they can be driven on the bike lanes; and the only requirement for driving them is a moped license.
They have come a long way since their first car was launched, and in three years have launched fleets around some of Switzerland’s biggest cities. So far, Enuu have gained over 3000 users.
Auto Trendy’s take:
According to Enuu’s cofounder, Luca Placi, Enuu’s name means new efficiency (E for efficiency and nuu for new). This is definitely a relevant name for the company. Micro-mobility has been seen around major cities worldwide in the form of shared e-scooters and bicycles. When it comes to short-distance vehicles that protect the drivers from the elements, there have not been many success stories until now. Enuu’s growth is promising and it would be interesting to see if they grow outside of Switzerland and what their success would look like across other European countries.
